Howdy all!
Day 2 of introduction to aviation and aerospace was phenomenal! The team
built rockets! Some launched successfully; some crashed; some ran out of fuel in space! Oh well, we had fun! Take a look at what the future pilots and astronauts learned!
Participants began the day with introduction to space travel video.
A brief talk under theme of “teamwork” was delivered, followed by a question-and-answer discussion.
Group was introduced to basic space travel terminology and orbital physics.
A mission goal was established. Each team member was given a chance to build, and attempt launch of orbital vehicle.
The group was split into teams to simulate mission control. Mission control was comprised of: Science, Engineering, and Meteorology team. An emphasis was placed on planning and having backup plans.
The whole group was brought outside to take a weather observation utilizing an anemometer and thermometer. Inside we called FAA AWOS to gather additional weather details prior to launch.
Participants worked together in their respective roles to ensure a nominal launch and recovery of spacecraft.
Next class the team will be working with simulators and drones! Yayyyyy! Keep watch for the next posting!
Be Blessed,
