Hello everyone! Ooooo Our adventurers had a blast on Saturday, May 4th at Evangeline Parish Library Fest as they made their FIRST endeavor to explore the world of culinary! The team sold fresh-baked cake squares with a choice of ten different toppings. I am so proud of our adventurers!
Our culinary program will begin officially on June 1, 2024. We will offer fun learning adventures on two levels: grade 2 through grade 6 will engage in culinary activities, while grades 7 through 12 will engage in fun culinary camp as we partner with Hundredfold Coffee House to provide meals for the Grace for the Streets feeding program. Space is limited so if you are interested send your name, grade, phone number, and email to sockac11@gmail.com.
Meet the organization's supervisors in training (SITs):
SIT Z (Zaleria Calvin); SIT Mozie (Gustavia Sanchez); SIT Bri (Brianna Carter); SIT Lex (Nylah Guillory); and SIT Yoni (Areina Boast). These youth chef coaches have been working throughout the months of April and May on their leadership skills and soft culinary skills in an effort to assist their culinary peers.
Our adventurers always look for a way to give back to the community. Ethan Zang (EZ), Roderick Williams, and Quintarus Williams took time out to help the library staff keep the grounds clean.
Our adventurers are learning about "work-life" balancing as they took time to enjoy the petting zoo and all the vendors present at the library fest.
A thousand "Thanks" to our adventure coaches Madame Jessica and Lashonda Williams for their passionate and dedicated loyalty to the adventurers. A thousand "Thanks" to Keisha and the entire library staff for inviting us to participate in the library fest!
Space for culinary classes is limited, so if you are interested send your name, grade, phone number, and email to sockac11@gmail.com
Yall be blessed and make it a happy day! Keep looking up and moving forward!
Linda
