Hello everyone! Sixth through twelve graders ROCKED in March as they participated in a conversational workshop held at Evangeline Parish Library where they learned about key puzzle pieces needed to condition your mindset when thinking about starting a business! The attendees were introduced to and discussed eight key puzzle pieces: Vision/Why; Believe in Yourself; Failure; Research; Marketing; Operations; Financials; Balance.
After a healthy conversation about key puzzle pieces needed to condition your mindset in owning and operating a business, the attendees then created a business vision board. The attendees gave critical thought to their business vision, visualizing their businesses as successful in several locations across the country; understanding when you fail, you get up and try again; and the art of balancing home and school life and operating a business. These girls and boys RAISED THE ROOF with engagement, interactions, and discussion. One of the questions asked was, “What you do if a pop-up shop and a game were held on the same day at the same time? Much to my surprise the answers were, “Too bad. We will have to catch the next game because making some money would come first. “Entrepreneur mindset!!!!!! They gave critical thought to their business vision, visualizing their businesses as successful in several locations across the country. Ms. Debra Arvie-Wilson, Founder of True Home Care, Ville Platte was the guest speaker. Ms. Debra gave an encouraging and motivating talk to the participant centered around the eight key puzzle pieces to consider when thinking of starting a business. Thereafter, the participants presented their vision boards to the guest speaker. The goal for 2024 is to offer a six-cohort affording the participants to learn more about researching the market, product-market fit, marketing using social media, writing business paths and models, and financial statements.
